Question: what's next in terms of the application if I dont receive the first around (assuming thats the case) of interview? does the application status automatically change to "rejected"?

Not necessarily rejected, potentially wait listed. Many programs don't send out rejections/wait lists until after the interviews

Do you remember when Hofstra's due date for their application was? Usually Adelphi and Hofstra are very similar with this stuff and I have not heard anything regarding the status of anyones Adelphi's application.

Ask what the PI's mentoring style is like (are they very hands-off? are they usually available for questions or office hours?),

it's also important to ask what their current research projects are, you can also ask about what conferences they attend and what journals are students usually publishing in (so you can see 1. if they are successful at publishing, 2. the impact factor of journals they are published in, and 3. if the journals sound similar to, perhaps, what your research ideas could be published in.).

Ask the student questions about living in the certain town they are residing in (cost of living, recreational activities, etc.).

This is a great time to ask all of those important questions that could help determine whether this program would fit your needs for the next 5 years. But also, remember that this is an INTERVIEW. Every person you talk to in that department is part of the interview process and it WILL affect their decision, so be professional and courteous. Good luck!!

Thanks for great questions! I guess I am just concerned about asking all of those questions via email and then not having anything to ask at the happy hour/open house night when I get there?

Yeah, I'd say those are much better in person questions...keep the email questions simple

Hi everyone! Congrats to those who have gotten interview invites! Has anyone heard anything about Counseling PhD programs from Teachers College, NYU, Fordham or Boston College? Thanks in advance for any comments!

I believe it was December 31 if I recall correctly.

I saw a question about the University of Central Florida a few pages back. Just an update, we have identified ~30 applicants that we are inviting to our interview day (which will be on 2/10, a Monday, to try to avoid overlap with all the programs that do Thursday/Friday interviews). We are sending out invites individually now (in alphabetical order). We should have our initial invites out by Monday at the latest. Best of luck to all of you in this process! Please know that this (incredibly stressful) process involves a lot of luck and, whether you get an offer or not (anywhere), says nothing about you (as a person) or your abilities :).

Hi all!!

Has anyone heard from University of Maine? If so, what were your PI initials?

Best of luck to everyone ❤️

I’ve only seen two interview invitations posted on the results page but I’m unsure about the PIs they applied for!

Hey everyone,

This is my second time applying to graduate school, but it's my first time getting an interview. Does anyone know if the professor emailing you/inviting you is the one interested in working with you?

This has proven to be the case for me except when the email is by the director.

A friend of mine received an interview invite from Columbia's Teachers College Counseling Psychology PHD program last year on January 17th. Hope that helps! I'm also waiting to hear!
