I was able to write down my school codes before taking the GRE, and an employee brought me my codes once I finished so I could submit the scores. I'm not sure if every testing center does something like this, though.

I know Nova Southeastern does not require the GRE. However, it's quite expensive, even for online programs. With online programs, clinicals take place near your home (excepting any residency requirements). Some programs require students to find and secure their own placements, while others take care of that for you. I don't know about Nova. Look at each program's webpage for information regarding clinicals and residency requirements, if any. A few programs accept the MAT in lieu of the GRE. The MAT does not have any math on it. I know California State Northridge accepts it, but I don't know of any others. There is no calculus on the GRE. Topics covered are arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and data analysis.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding is that if you go through a program that's a candidate for accreditation, you'll be able to get your CCCs, even if they don't end up getting accredited (which is unlikely).

Just wanted to let everyone know that I submitted my application two days ago and just received an e-mail saying it's been Verified. I've had my transcripts in for a few weeks, but I was not expecting CSDCAS to be this quick! Here's hoping they keep it up.

What do you do if your program is listed on CSDCAS, but your school requires a specific template for the LORs? Has anyone been in this situation? I was under the impression that letter writers submitted one letter to CSDCAS, which was then made available to all of the schools to which the applicant applies. The school in question requires that letters be uploaded to CSDCAS (rather than being sent to the department). I've contacted CSDCAS, but I thought I'd ask here in the meantime.

Re: Champaign-Urbana, you probably need a car unless you live on campus or in downtown Champaign. Public transit is decent for a smaller city (by U.S. standards, at least), but I'd still recommend bringing a car.

A couple points regarding p287's post (sorry, it's not letting me quote individual sentences on mobile): I'm a US citizen and Canadian permanent resident. If you become a permanent resident of Canada, your status would only be revoked if you did not meet your residency obligations in Canada (2 years out of every 5). Also, while you'll need to file US taxes each year, it's unlikely you'd need to pay taxes in the US and Canada - you can deduct a certain dollar amount of income (more than 100k USD, I believe). If your income were to exceed that, there are also tax treaties in place to avoid double taxation. Your best bet would be to find an accountant who specializes in US/Canadian taxes.

Congratulations on your acceptances! I didn't know Emerson offered scholarships for their online program -- I wonder if they would award enough to defray the hefty price tag (or at least make them comparable to CSUN)!

It sounds like OP is not a CA resident, so s/he would be ineligible for state grants for residents.

University of Minnesota has a distance program? Whaaat?

I know some programs can't accept applicants who aren't Canadian citizens or permanent residents -- UBC and Toronto come to mind. Also, keep in mind that schools in Canada can be even more competitive than those in the states; after all, there are only seven programs where English is the language of instruction in the entire country.

I don't think we can really make any sort of judgment given that we don't know why your professor suggested that. For what it's worth, according to my professors, there are definite benefits to doing your master's at another university, as departments can be a bit insular and going elsewhere exposes you to different people and perspectives. Not sure if that's what your professor was getting at though.

I'm curious about their clinical placements and whether they have more of a medical or school focus--my thought is that it's about equal? I'm planning on applying there next year and appreciate any insight! Thanks!

I agree with @Crimson Wife. Plus, you'll probably be far too busy to enjoy all that a cool city has to offer. You should also be able to find a coffee shop to your liking in most (all?) college towns. I'm actually targeting programs in urban areas myself--not because I want to move to some elusive dream city, but because cities and urban areas tend to have more clinical opportunities. That seems more important than whether I find x city desirable.
