  1. I applied to Fullerton! I'm currently finishing my undergrad at another CSU.
  2. Some things I have seen others do: -Americorps Literacy -ABA -subbing -teacher credential program -SLPA -paraprofessional (special ed assistant)
  3. I got an interview with Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. I chose to do the Skype interview, which will be in March. I will update this later! Also- I have friends who got contacted from Boston U, and Emerson today RE interviews!
  4. My goal!! is to take out less than $75,000 in loans. If I have multiple acceptances, cost is definitely going to be a factor. I have around 5k loans from undergrad. I also have about 4k in credit card debt (mainly because I couldn't get more in student loans) that I'm hoping to cut down with a summer job.
  5. @SLPsingballs I'm in SF! I grew up in the Bay Area, and stayed here for undergrad. @kayyyyy_ I applied for full-time! @plume I feel like it's usually email...or if you have a student portal, you just keep checking and rechecking it haha.
  6. I also applied to NAU for the full-time track. I submit my CSDCAS app / supplemental over Thanksgiving Break. @danielleewart Where are you on the West Coast? Congrats about the Boston interview!!
  7. I got an offer from NAU today!
  8. I applied to 14, haha. I was feeling pretty mediocre about my stats. I also felt financially stable and had the time to apply to that many, where next year I am not sure if I would have been in the same position.
  9. I got my first acceptance! Northern Arizona University! This was so unexpected!
  10. I got contacted to do an interview by a school! (Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center) There was the option between video and in person, which was very hard to make over a quick phone call (I live in San Francisco). I hope I didn't sound too silly fumbling around while quickly trying to pull up a calendar. I decided to do the video interview, which I will definitely need to practice for!
  11. I was reading through all my personal statements for schools I applied to, and found that I sent in a statement to three!! schools missing the word "the" in a sentence. I have no idea how that happened...I had multiple people proof my essay and made corrections along the way. Too late to do anything about it now, but its making me want to apply to an extra school or two because of the mistake.
  12. SFSU's deadline already passed, unfortunately. It was December 15th. But it was CSU Mentor app + departmental app. Long Beach you need CSU mentor, and then you email or mail in the departmental application, as well as your transcripts, etc.
  13. @kenz if you google "csdcas participating programs", click on the first link, then click on 2016-2017 programs. The color tells you if the app needs to be verified before the deadline or not! Also, I just submit an app and had it verified in around six hours (my concern was also verification before the deadline). Still gives me some anxiety, but I'm hoping the rest can be verified just as fast haha.
  14. You can submit an app without having your evaluations / transcripts in. Granted, all your coursework should be entered, but transcripts don't have to be verified. Meanwhile, I would remind any LOR writers to submit their eval ASAP.
  15. ^^^ @kenz Don't forget that not all programs need to be verified by the deadline! Some programs only need application materials submit by then!
  16. You can add as many programs as you want! You don't need to inform your letter writers. It's kind of like transcripts- once the info is uploaded, it is free to be used for any and all programs.
  17. Where are you all seeing your CSDCAS GPA? I've had my transcripts verified, and done the academic update, but still can't seem to find it?
  18. @Callen- There is an option for Academic Update once you start submitting! I believe you upload your finalized Fall grades, and send a transcript, when the semester is over for CSDCAS.
  19. @panda1991- good luck! I think I remember seeing you around the forums last cycle (it also might've been another panda username haha, I tended to keep "tabs" on the CA applicants with stats more up my alley). Just curious- what influenced your decision to apply so heavily out of state...and by out of state are you sticking to West Coast, or everywhere? I'm also from SF, and am slowly warming up to the idea of adding more out of state programs.
  20. @k_kismet- I would definitely send your transcripts now. I did mine online. Don't wait until you submit, this is definitely a part of the application that you can do early!
  21. @genyslp I'm aiming for 12...8 CA, 4 out of state. Part of me almost feels like I'm wasting a fair amount of $$ w my CA schools.
  22. I am loving the late deadlines...definitely feeling stressed with this semester. My earliest deadline is Dec. 15th, but that's my only December one.
  23. I'm also in the same boat. Great CSD GPA (4.0)...but possibly dropping as I will probably get a B in Audiology, but my cumulative is sitting at a high 3.4/exactly 3.5....and my CSDCAS cumulative (since they factor in retakes differently) will definitely be a 3.4, as I retook a class. My GRE is quite average (302 combined, 5.0 writing), though I do have a solid resume of clinical experience. My first two years of college I was a B/C student; didn't pull it together and apply myself until I transferred schools. My last 60 is a lot stronger (probably around 3.8, I would guess). Meanwhile, it doesn't help that I'm sitting in a very competitive state (CA) and am hoping to stay on the West Coast. It has been very discouraging to hear that most of the schools I am applying to take 15 applicants that aren't there own students, and have up to 400 applications per year. I've been slowly pushing my search outside of CA...though my heart wants to stay here because of family and weather.
  24. Realistically I would finish a post-bacc, and retake the GRE. I think minimums are pretty much 145 V and 140 Q (for less competitive programs).
  25. My grad school resume looks far different than my work. I didn't include anything that wasn't SLP related...but I also am in-field. I currently have an objective, but may take it out. My first page is only my clinical experiences. Second page: work experience (related field), education, extracurriculars at school (NSSLHA, anatomy mentoring), awards, languages, affiliations (ASHA, CSHA).
