  1. I don't think you understand. OMSCS leads to the exact same degree as the on campus version
  2. What program would you guys choose?
  3. People typically have a better GPA in grad school than undergrad because professors care more about that grad students do research than take a bunch of classes. You have more control on what your schedule looks like as well... Also grades dont matter as much in grad school. You should try to getting 3.5 overall GPA before graduation
  4. why not just OMSCS the whole degree? Saves you money and you can maintain work experience
  5. UCLA and USC have online MSEE programs
  6. Very few Universities will admit with funding for just MS. When I was applying for graduate school, I was lucky to be offered funding from UIUC for their ECE program. What you can do is to get admitted with no funding and then connect with professors on campus so that you can get a TA ship. Good you'd still have to pay for at least one semester, but better than nothing.
  7. great schools, good luck to you all
  8. Berkeley MEng is not an engineering Management degree. It is professional masters with a flavor of leadership coursework. IN fact if you look at career placement of Berkeley MEng students, you will see that they all just go into entry level engineer positions
  9. you should try posting on reddit (/gradadmission, etc.). People on grad cafe are not very active in profile reviews
  10. Honestly, unless you are an amazing applicant, it is probably better if you just apply to MS only. Stanford CS is extremely competitive for PhD.
  11. I highly disagree. CMU is only known best known for CS but that does not mean it is a better brand name than Cal. Btw no one calls Berkeley "UBC", it's either Berkeley or Cal.
  12. I remember when I applied to CMU's MS in ECE program, I did not get any response even into May - June 2016. Finally I sent them an angry email CC'ing the Dean of Admission and Dean of Engineering, and they finally sent me my rejection letter. I've lost a lot of respect for CMU.
  13. Stanford has more prestige than Berkeley, BUT not by that much and doesn't really matter esp if you are staying in the Bay Area and/or already come from a top notch school. Go to Berkeley because they gave you $$$, it's simple as that.
  14. Honestly UIUC has wayyyy better engineering dept than Columbia OR Cornell
  15. Yep, you pretty much said it right. GaTech has better ECE ranking, BUT UCSD is actually not too bad itself. If you are sure you want to do Ph.D, then you should go to GaTech. If you want to get industry job in CA, then UCSD might be a good choice.
  16. Guys, I've decided that I'll be doing LGO and formally rejected SDM. See you all in Boston.
  17. Full time MS programs at Stanford is 2 years (and maybe 1.5 years if you kill yourself). Expect to get a TA-ship after your first quarter at the earliest to maybe offset SOME tuition. If I were you, I would do the Berkeley MEng program since it is geared toward industry AND they gave you money. If you go Stanford, you will have to pay at least 50-60k in tuition alone. Sure Stanford has slight edge in terms of prestige, but money talks and Cal will not prevent you from getting just as far. p.s. I applied to both twice, and got rejected twice
  18. Harvard does not have a good engineering reputation at all. That being said, a major called "Master of Intelligent Information System" sounds very very vague. If your goal is to break into tech industry, I think CMU is better name. If you want do go into wall street and do quant work, then the harvard program is prob better.
  19. Any difference in tuition? Any scholarships? I think USC is more reputable in EE
  20. Don't do material science, you cannot really use that degree for a job unless you have Ph.D. Also you will be in debt because of tuition
  21. Is the MEM program associated with Tuck? If so... Tuck is much more renown in the MBA world than the Duke program (which isn't even official associated with Fuqua?). Forget USC and Purdue, they are lower league
  22. Guys is IDM actually considered a Sloan program? I only see SDM not IDM on Sloan's website.
