After a truly enjoyable visitation day two weeks ago, I've been accepted into the Public Health Sciences program at WashU in St. Louis! social/behavioral_phd Posted February 23, 2018 Posted February 23, 2018 (edited) Hey all, long time lurker here, but I am getting crazy with waiting so I thought I'd share some info: --MPH in epi from top ranked school // GPA: 3.53 undergrad/3.48 grad // GRE: 168v/151q/4w // 3 years experience in research n// 5 pubs Interested in mental health and American Indian/Alaska Native populations, (I am Native). Applied to all social/behavioral programs: JHU, UNC, Columbia, Harvard, George Washington, and UMass Amherst Heard back from ONE: JHU--rejection Radio silence from all others. No interviews, nada. Just saw my rejection (after seeing a couple reported in Results). Said an e-mail would be going out in next day or two. Oh well, figured I didn't really have a shot there and would have needed funding to afford it. Pretty sure I'm getting a UMd MCH rejection, too, since someone in Results reported an interview request today that they'd received a month ago. When I talked to head of program in November, he'd said rejections are sent out first, then interviews. So unless they're doing multiple rounds of interviews...maybe they changed the order in which they do things? Oh well, looks like no PhD program for me (only applied to two since want to stay local)

No news isn't the worst news in some cases- if you haven't gotten a rejection from UNC Health Behavior and don't in the coming days it probably means you're on the waiting list! Have you tried reaching out to the departments to check your status? I had some success with that social/behavioral_phd 1

Expand There technically is one for Columbia, if you are reapplying... it would be the same portal they used to send the decisions from the prior year. NYU has no portal, it's an e-mail. Last year the rejections for NYU went out early February, so not sure what is going on this year... :/

I decided to email NYU today to see when they think they will be sending out emails (they are my top choice)...will see if they respond. Someone on the results page mentioned that their interview day is today? Embee 1

I was checking on my smart phone and couldn't see the whole decision. I saw "thank you" at the beginning and "we sincerely hope …" as an ending, then falsely assumed it as a rejection?
