Thank you for the info! I was also wondering if you knew how many people are interviewed usually? Or it depends on how many people apply per POI basically?

Expand

3-4 per POI generally, but can be as few as 2 or as many as 5. The overall number depends on how many faculty are accepting students.

Ryerson open house/visiting day is February 10th btw. I believe invites should be going out next week? (I just had a Skype interview with a POI the other day)

anyone heard from York yet? I know they tend to be a bit later with things but wondering if anyone has exchanged any emails with their POI or had a Skype interview, etc

I haven't heard anything either. I spoke with my POI really early on (September) but haven't corresponded with them since applications were due. I was looking at the thread from last year and I think I remember reading that interview invites went out quite late, either the second last or last week of January.

I received an email from a POI at UBC-O informing me that he has compiled a list of applicants and is currently reviewing them. He said the department will be providing more information (i.e. interview invites) in early February. Hope this helps, best of luck!!

Hey! Out of curiosity, did they email you out of the blue or did you email them to inquire about the status of your application and that is how they responded?

Thank you!

They emailed me out of the blue. However, I have had ongoing communication with this specific POI for a couple of years, so I doubt that this is the norm.

I'm an international student still doing undergrad. I didn't do the Psych GRE so my choice was limited and I only applied to 5 universities. I'm getting nervous because I haven't heard back from any of them yet, but my friend did have an informal interview with UVic. How worried should I be? Should I email them and ask about application timelines?

It depends on the school, so it''s hard to say. For informal interviews profs go at their own pace but they have an internal deadline to send the program admin a list of which applicants they want invited to the departmental interviews/open house.  For most schools I think by the end of January PIs should at least have reached out informal interviews, though I know for York last year they were still doing those during the first week of February.

If you met or spoke with a prof before applying, they might not do an informal interview with you, but it wouldn't hurt to follow up with them to see where things are.

I also haven't heard anything yet. This is my second year applying and last year, they sent me an email to set up an interview in the last few days of January (like Jan. 31st) so I think they are a bit later than most schools.

Is anyone here going to Calgary's open house from Feb 7-8?

Is this for the clinical program specifically? I hadn't heard about this, but I applied to counselling.

As far as I know, the open house weekend is specifically for clinical and experimental psych, while counselling is usually done a little differently (via the School of Education rather than Psychology)

Thank you! Counselling interview invites have already gone out, so I was a little confused! But yes, they do fall under different faculties so that would make sense.

Tip to anyone who was invited to interview at Saskatchewan: they do not do an in-person interview day. This phone call is essentially your official interview. I did NOT know that during mine on Friday. I would say everything went fine and I was mostly prepared for everything, but when my POI told me at the end that this was the official interview (they do their whole interview process pretty informally) and I'll be hearing back in 1-2 months, I was like HUH WHAT?? Like welp I guess I just did my first official interview!! So yeah, if anyone is curious about Sask, that's the big scoop.

Did anyone else apply to the SCCP MEd program at UAlberta?  According to their grad portal, my application is still in pre-screening.  Is that what your system says too?

I applied to Counselling, so a different program but also in the Faculty of Education. Mine still says pre-screening, too.
